Celebrating 18 Years!
Celebrating 18 Years of Craft, Community, and Modern Handmade Jewelry
As I reflect on 18 years in business, I’m filled with gratitude, pride, and a deep sense of fulfillment. From humble beginnings to now having my own studio, this journey has shaped not only my brand but also the relationships and experiences that have come along the way. I’m excited to share how my studio has evolved, how my brand has found its true home, and how handmade jewelry has connected me with customers across the country.
18 Years in Business: Finding My True Home
When I first started my modern handmade jewelry business, I never imagined that it would lead to 18 years of growth, creativity, and community-building scale that its has. Today, I’m in my fifth studio location, and I can confidently say that I’ve finally found my space—one that perfectly reflects my vision, values, and connection with my customers. There are no more "next studio" plans or fantasizing about the future. This studio is the heart of my business, where the magic happens.
My space isn’t just a place to create, it’s a community hub where I can host open studio events, curated gatherings, and offer a behind-the-scenes look at the process of modern handmade jewelry design. Customers can experience the art in its raw form, from the messy workbench to the final polished pieces. This transparency and accessibility are what set my studio apart. It’s a space that embodies my vision for both my brand and the customer experience.
A Shift Within Wholesale + Direct Relationships
In the early years of my business, I focused heavily on growing through wholesale accounts, hoping that reaching stores would help grow my brand. But over time, I realized that this one-sided approach didn’t allow me to build meaningful relationships with my customers. This realization led me to pivot toward creating deeper, more personal connections with those who purchase my jewelry.
Now, more I have direct relationships with my customers, whether they discover my brand through a friend, an online search, or a local store that sells my designs. The key to my success has been building loyalty and trust, not just making a sale. Many of my customers have been with me from the beginning, and their continued support has made this milestone possible.
Whether it's curating a custom jewelry collection, helping a customer find the perfect modern hoop earrings, or celebrating milestones with a unique piece, the personal connection is at the heart of everything I do. Every customer feels like part of my jewelry brand’s family—and that’s what makes this journey so rewarding.
Handmade Jewelry: Custom, Personal, and Unique
One of the core elements of my brand is the dedication to creating modern jewelry that feels personal, unique, and crafted with care. I’ve always believed that jewelry should carry the mark of the artist who created it, which is why I remain committed to handcrafted designs rather than mass-produced pieces.
From customizing a range of sizes and lengths to creating one-of-a-kind necklaces, my designs are made to reflect individual style. I embrace the flexibility in my craft, ensuring that each piece can be tailored to suit any size, shape, or personal aesthetic—whether it's a delicate, tiny hoop or an oversized statement piece. This custom approach allows me to connect with customers in a way that is personal and thoughtful, and it’s what keeps them coming back.
The Journey: Slow, Steady Growth
When I look back on my 18 years in business, I feel an overwhelming sense of pride for how far I’ve come. I’ve learned that slow, steady growth has been the key to my success. Unlike some businesses that aim for rapid expansion, I’ve focused on building a solid foundation and allowing my business to grow organically.
Through careful planning, a commitment to quality, and nurturing customer relationships, I’ve found a sustainable pace that works for me. My business is not about scaling quickly or chasing trends; it’s about creating meaningful, lasting pieces that resonate with my customers.
Today, I’m proud to say that my business is a career. It nurtures my creativity, and allows me to connect with customers not only in Chicago but across the U.S. and beyond. I’ve been especially touched by the loyalty of my customers in Austin, Texas, who continue to support my brand even after I’ve moved back to Chicago.
Gratitude for My Loyal Customers and Supporters
What I love most about my business is the sense of community and loyalty that surrounds it. Whether it’s a longtime customer who’s been with me from the beginning, a store that carries my jewelry, or a new customer who stumbles upon my brand, every relationship is built on mutual respect and support.
It’s incredibly fulfilling to know that my modern handmade jewelry has become a part of people’s lives, whether it’s celebrating a milestone, honoring a special occasion, or just adding a unique touch to their daily style. Each piece I create has a story, and I’m honored to be part of so many others.
Looking Ahead: The Future of My Jewelry Brand
As I enter my 18th year in business, I feel more focused, more inspired, and more connected than ever. I’ve stayed true to my roots: creating modern handmade jewelry that reflects my artistic vision and my customers’ personal style.
I’m excited for what the future holds. There’s still so much to create, so much to explore, and so many more relationships to nurture. My vision for the brand is as clear as it was when I first started: to offer jewelry that is crafted with care, customized for individuality, and connected to the people who wear it. I’m incredibly grateful for the customers, stores, and friends who have supported me over the years. Your loyalty and trust mean everything.
Here’s to 18 years of creativity, connection, and modern jewelry that tells a story. Thank you for being a part of my journey—I couldn’t have done it without you.
xx, Rachel
