The curvilinear lines are a unique take on a common shape that is found in architecture, life, geometry, and more. I find inspiration anywhere I go if I step back for a pause within the noise. It allows me to focus on something other than going about a day ordinarily. It could be a walk through my bustling Bucktown Chicago neighborhood, illustrated children’s books where the shapes are brought to life, historical buildings, and even interior design magazines. This arch is newer to me. While I design with basic and not-so-basic shapes, this is a fresh softened look relative to my usually stricter lines and faceted shapes (like these hexagon hoops, prisms, and bolder lines). These softened edges drove my design process naturally as if the shape spoke to me in a fluid way of honoring and navigating this past year in limbo.
The arch symbolizes integrity and strength and building upon the arch shape, it can conquer and take on more endured weight. Embracing 2020 (...and into 2021) while balancing the weight of mom, wife, caregiver, teacher, household manager, and necessities inventory tracker - no detail was overlooked to ensure the comfort and health of my family this year. Through it all, I thoroughly enjoyed my work and design process. The joys of design, making all of my jewelry by hand brings me incredible gratification. Becoming a mom of 2 this year, I strived to not lose my jam and this year granted me the pause to honor and style myself with effort and care. I thoughtfully adorned myself and asked “what makes me feel good?? For sure earrings, and not one necklace, but THREE! (finally found my ritual of effortless layering). OH, and TWO bracelets that I never take off.” Wear it. Love it. On repeat.
